Data Collection Internship

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Collection Intern will be responsible for creating and maintaining a desktop database to manage specification file data. Working with Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Presales teams, the position ensures data accuracy and version control while allowing for schedule changes. The database will be cross-checked with ERP/MRP systems to avoid duplication, and reports will be generated to support cross-functional decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Collect and enter data into a desktop database in excel for storing data in specification files.
  2. Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to understand database functionality and needs.
  3. Locate specification files by working with the project management and presales teams. Verify contents are the most recent. Load contents into a database along with file version information.
  4. Cross-check multiple excel production schedules with the database.
  5. Keep the database updated as specification files are released (mark as released), new versions of specification files are released, and new specification files are accepted.
  6. Compare database with contents in ERP/MRP system to prevent double reporting.
  7. Run reports on the database. Cross-check report data with data in production schedules as needed.

  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in the fields of business, data management, engineering, or computer science required.
  • Medium-level Excel skills required.
  • Database and data management knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of business data management best practices preferred.
  • Ability to write scripts preferred.
  • Data collection, cleaning, and organizing experience preferred.
  • Experience with an MRP/ERP system preferred.

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

  • Basic math functions and accounting abilities with a high aptitude for accuracy.

Computer:

  • Ability to perform intermediate PC functions including spreadsheet formulas and functions, queries, tables, merges, and special reports.

Abilities:

  • Able to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
